Here are 11 Random Things About Me

clarks pictures 1488

1.  I love studying personality styles.  In fact, my hubby and I took a seminar with our boys about it and it has really helped us all get along better.

2.  My favorite treat (at the moment haha) is Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Caramel with Sea Salt Bar.  Yum!

3.  I have moved 7 times and lived in 3 states.

4.  I gave up soda over a year ago and after I got over the withdrawal, I feel so much better!  Try it!

5.  Hubby and I just celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary.

6.  I prefer dogs to cats.  Don’t hate me.

7.  I feel like I can literally breath better and think better when my house is decluttered and clean.

8.  I am a cancer survivor of almost 9 years. yay!

9.  Our family of 5 is on a year long US tour in our 5th wheel.  Halfway through our year and we have visited 22 states!

10.  I hate mornings!  I love to sleep.  lol

11.  Luxury of choice is a massage.  Last year I went to Mexico with a friend to celebrate our birthdays and we got 3 in a week.  It was heaven!

Here are a few questions I have been asked:

1.  When it comes to blogging, what types of things do you enjoy: photography, writing, crafting, sharing, networking, etc.?

My favorite is networking on the social media.  I’m addicted!  lol

2.  What types of blogs do you like to follow and why?  You can list them if you want.

I like blogs that relate to family, living healthy, simple organizing and a few that make me laugh!

3.  Do you think it’s difficult to find the time to blog?  Do you schedule certain times to work on your blog?

It is difficult to find all the time I WANT to blog.  I have found that blocking out a few hours throughout the week and putting it on my calendar totally helps.

4.  What is your favorite hobby?

uhmm…blogging!  lol It’s just an awesome bonus that I make money with it too.

5.  What is your favorite holiday and why?

Christmas!  Family and Faith

6.  What place would you like to visit the most?

Well, since we are touring the US right now, I will go bigger.  Israel is definitely on my bucket list.

7.  What’s the first thing you would grab if your house was on fire (besides pets and family members)?

Probably my computer!  Before you judge…lol…it has my pictures on it.

8.  Do you have a job in addition to blogging?  …or are you a stay at home mom?

I own my own company marketing health + wellness products for Shaklee, a natural nutrition company. I work at home.

9.  What is your favorite dessert?

Anything chocolate!

10.  What are some things your dream home would have?

A big jacuzzi tub.

11.  Can you recommend any good books?  Why do you like it/them?

Currently I am reading Unglued by Lysa TerKeurst.  It is awesome!

Unlock Your Greatness~~with Sarah Finks

Welcome!  Follow on Facebook

Today, I am sharing a MUST event with you hosted by my friend and co-worker, Sarah Finks.  Sarah is a master in coaching women to achieve the life they want to have in their careers, relationships and homes.  What she speaks is golden and the opportunity to attend this FREE event is an opportunity not to be missed!  It is my honor and privilege to share this with you today.

Here are all the details from Sarah….

The Unlock Your Greatness Event

With a Free Pass for YOU!

January 28th – February 1st

Did you know that the majority of women today describe their life as fine?

There is certainly nothing wrong with fine. But have you ever imagined what a little bit of greatness in your life could do?

Now, I don’t know what you have going on and I’m sure you love your career, your relationships are kick ass, you are debt free, you feel great in your body, and leap out of bed each morning, just ready to attack the day.

But not everyone is experiencing this right now. There are a lot of women out there in crappy relationships, or uncomfortably single, getting divorced, staying in jobs that are suffocating, going into debt, frustrated with their kids, exhausted, bored, and settling.

I’m sure you may even know some folks that would love to improve their marriage, or find love, decrease debt, kick ass at work, and feel great in their bod. Maybe you do too!

But in order to really unlock your greatness, you need more than stardust. How about a roadmap and GPS from people who have already done it – and want to show you how to do it too?

The Unlock Your Greatness Event is that GPS. It’s an exclusive event designed to give you access to 14 amazingly successful women who have charted their own course to greatness for themselves …and who want to show you how to do it, too.

Plus, I’m honored and excited to be a speaker at the Event!

A full five days of valuable information about what it takes to make this the year that you finally unlock your greatness, all at no cost to you.

Thanks Sarah!

Organize your Schedule

Being a WAHM is super busy!  Sometimes I feel like I don’t have any free time to myself.  Mostly, though, I can end up feeling like I am constantly juggling to keep it all going.  All it takes is one sick child and I’ve dropped the ball.

But the worst feeling is the big G….GUILT.  Guilt for spreading myself too thin.  Guilt for telling my kids ‘just a minute’ over and over.  Guilt for not having a healthy dinner on the table every night.  Guilt for not having the house perfectly clean.

What has worked for me is taking time every 3 months and evaluating my time and priorities.

So, first I make a list of my top 5 – 7 priorities.

I identify what is important to me and what/who I want to spend my time on.  This might include cutting out a few things for this season.

Next I evaluate my commitments

Write down ALL activities, work, school, hobbies, kids, family, house, projects, etc.  You get the idea.

Third I evaluate my time.

How do I spend my day?  From the time I wake up until I go to sleep.  What do I spend my time doing?

Finally, I write it down.

Get a calendar that will work for you.

Here is what I like to use ….

organize your schedule 1

organize your schedule 3

Mine is an 8 x 11 but you can find them smaller if you need.

I have this one that I put everything in and we have one hanging in the kitchen too.

I color code blocks of time on the monthly calendar according to my priorities, commitments and time.

For me, it breaks down like this:

Green = work time

Blue = kids/family time

Pink = date night

Other ideas are…exercise, errands, house cleaning, etc….

This is what it looks like in my calendar.

organize your schedule 4

My calendar also has weekly pages after the month and this is where I fill in the details and tasks that need to get done.

organize your schedule 2

At this stage in my life, the kids keep me pretty busy so I have to decide to let house work go a lot and be ok with that.  It was different when they were little and we were home more.

I like to call our house ‘lived in’.  It’s not perfect and it’s not a total wreck either because we ALL help out, but you get the idea.  There are just so many hours in the day and I choose to spend my time investing in my kids, hubby and job.

I was at a seminar once where the speaker taught the power of focus with our time.  It is so true and I find color blocking my priorities (kids, husband + work) it helps me focus and enjoy what I am doing at that time!

It takes practice and effort BUT the pay off is awesome!

How do you organize your schedule?  Is it similar to mine?

Try it and leave a comment to let me know what you love about it!

Remove Soap Scum Residue from the Shower Floor

Yuck!  This is so gross, I cannot believe I am showing this to you.

My shower floor looked like this waaaay too long!  Before I knew better, I sprayed every kind of chemical on this junk to get my floor white and it did nothing.  Blah!  [no judging pretty please]

shower floor before

Isn’t that gross?!  I was so fed up with it I wanted a whole new shower.

So when I got my Scour Off this was what I could not wait to use it on.

2010 09 06_8861

Here is what I did to remove the nasty soap residue from the shower floor naturally.

1.  Scrub the Scour Off paste on with water and a stiff brush.  Scrub in circles and enjoy the fragrance.  This stuff is a concentrate so just a little goes a long way.  It is non-toxic and smells like cherries.  For real!

2.  Let it sit for 30 minutes.

3.  Scrub again with the stiff brush.  Add more scour off if needed.  My soap scum residue was pretty bad.  You saw the picture!  So I needed some elbow grease with the brush and plenty of scour off.  But check out my after picture!  It was totally worth it.

4.  Rinse with water.

5.  Repeat if necessary.  My soap scum residue was pretty bad. You saw the picture! So I needed some elbow grease with the brush and plenty of scour off. But check out my after picture! It was totally worth it.

Can you believe that?!  It is so white!  In fact, the whole shower looks way brighter because the floor is finally clean.

To get your shower this clean, order here.  Be sure to take pictures and email me so I can rejoice with you!

Strawberry Lemonade Smoothee

Here is another of my favorite morning smoothee recipes.  This one totally reminds me of summer!  It’s super easy to make and each serving has 24 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber and 23 vitamins and minerals.  Super packed to keep you full all morning.

strawberry lemonade protein smoothee

Strawberry Lemonade Smoothee

2 scoops strawberry protein powder
6 oz. nonfat milk or light soy milk
2 oz. natural lemonade
Ice as desired
Directions: Mix all ingredients together in a blender until frothy.

Let me know when you try it and if you like it as much as me!

How to Clean the Shower

The shower in my 5th wheel needed a good cleaning!  The whole thing was so yucky dirty when we bought it.  Now you all know that I like to clean naturally.  I broke up with chemical cleaners almost 2 years ago and I’m not going back.

So I sprayed down the shower with my Basic H2 organic concentrate in the degreaser formula and let it sit for about 10 min.  After that I sprayed and scrubbed with a sponge and the gunk came right off.  Easy!  I didn’t even need to turn on the fan because there are NO fumes with this stuff.

Here are the before and after pictures.

And here are some pictures of my home shower, too.

clean shower before

clean shower after

shower door before

shower door after

See how it shines? I didn’t even need to turn on the fan because there are NO fumes with this stuff.  No headaches and it’s totally safe for my kids to be around when I clean.  No need to do it when they are at school or asleep.

Plus using harsh products, especially with amonia in them can etch the glass with spots permanently. 🙁

Order your Basic H organic cleaning concentrate  HERE…and get a clean shower, too!

Happy Cleaning,

Healthy Living Steps for Moms on the GO

…….this is a popular post from last year….Happy New Year!…….

Are you a busy mom on the GO?  Do you desire a more healthy lifestyle for you and your family?  Do you struggle with action and committing?  Or are you confused about where to start?  You are NOT alone!  Most people want to get healthy, feel better, have more energy and look younger yet they feel they are too busy to make it happen.  Then discouragement sets in.  I know because I struggle with this all too!

Prior to making some important changes in my life and family, I was a burned out mom.  I was feeling sick, depressed, tired all the time and had very little energy.  My role in life was changing from mommy to mom, my husband had a stressful job, we had gotten ourselves into some debt and my passion for life had seemed to just be gone.  It was time for some serious CHANGE, but even the thought of that overwhelmed me. I thought I needed a major overhaul (and I did!) but I thought I had to do it ALL at once.  That thought crippled me until I decided to change that thought.  Who says I have to do it all?  I think it was just me telling myself that.  Is this you too?  It is freeing to get rid of that crippling thought and I must remind myself of this often.

If you are FED UP with this reality, then I invite you to get serious and find some new habits that will serve you and your family better.  Take it ONE STEP at a time.

Healthy living shouldn’t feel hard…..it should feel GOOD!

Here are my 8 Simple Steps to get started TODAY!

1.  Drink a full glass of water first thing in the morning.

2.  Grab a few fresh fruits on your way out every day.

3.  Avoid eating out for lunch.

4.  Exercise daily.

5.  Drink herbal teas.

6.  Eat a handful of nuts around 3pm.

7.  Breath Deeply and Pray.

8.  Get enough sleep.

Commit to action and start feeling GOOD!

Which one will you start with?

A commitment is always more successful when you surround yourself with like-minded and encouraging people.  I invite you to plug in here for community support.  Start by subscribing by email to get access to our newsletter.
