Healthy Living Steps for Moms on the GO

…….this is a popular post from last year….Happy New Year!…….

Are you a busy mom on the GO?  Do you desire a more healthy lifestyle for you and your family?  Do you struggle with action and committing?  Or are you confused about where to start?  You are NOT alone!  Most people want to get healthy, feel better, have more energy and look younger yet they feel they are too busy to make it happen.  Then discouragement sets in.  I know because I struggle with this all too!

Prior to making some important changes in my life and family, I was a burned out mom.  I was feeling sick, depressed, tired all the time and had very little energy.  My role in life was changing from mommy to mom, my husband had a stressful job, we had gotten ourselves into some debt and my passion for life had seemed to just be gone.  It was time for some serious CHANGE, but even the thought of that overwhelmed me. I thought I needed a major overhaul (and I did!) but I thought I had to do it ALL at once.  That thought crippled me until I decided to change that thought.  Who says I have to do it all?  I think it was just me telling myself that.  Is this you too?  It is freeing to get rid of that crippling thought and I must remind myself of this often.

If you are FED UP with this reality, then I invite you to get serious and find some new habits that will serve you and your family better.  Take it ONE STEP at a time.

Healthy living shouldn’t feel hard…..it should feel GOOD!

healthylivingsteps

2.  Grab a few fresh fruits on your way out every day.

5.  Drink herbal teas.

6.  Eat a handful of nuts around 3pm.

7.  Breath Deeply and Pray.

8.  Get enough sleep.

Commit to action and start feeling GOOD!

Which one will you start with?

  • Over 90% of poison exposures happen at home?

  • Chlorine bleach is the #1 household chemical involved in poisoning?

  • Organic pollutants, found in many common cleaners and even air fresheners, are found at levels 2 – 5 times higher inside your home than out?

  • Common cleaners give off fumes that can potentially increase the risk of kids developing asthma, the most common chronic childhood disease.

  • 1 in 13 school-aged children has asthma. Rates in children under five has increased more than 160% from 1980 – 1994.

  • Children are highly vulnerable to chemical toxicants.

  • Your skin is your largest organ and the chemicals from you cleaners can be absorbed through your skin?

  • An average home generates over 25 pounds of toxic, hazardous waste each year. Much of this waste can be attributed to household cleaning products

  • The EPA says that only a fraction of the more than 81,000 registered chemicals have gone through testing for human health concerns.

  • A person who spends 15 minutes cleaning soap scum off a shower stall could inhale three times the acute exposure limit of some chemicals.

While you make your home cleaner, you can make your family healthier.

Why I use Organic Cleaning Products:

“I owned and operated a cleaning business for 10 years.  Prior to using organic products, I was getting daily headaches.

It honestly took me a little while to connect the dots between the chemicals in the cleaning products and my health issues.

Once I switched to the Get Clean product line, I noticed an immediate change for the better!

My headaches were gone, my allergy issues got better, I saved money AND they worked.”       ~ Claire

Super Soft, Shiny + Healthy Hair

Do you have dry hair or scalp?

Try this to get super soft, shiny + healthy hair.

I was noticing that mine was getting dry this winter and I needed to do something about it.

I didn’t have the time or want to spend the money to go to the salon and get a treatment so I made my own and it turned out amazing!

I heard of coconut oil working like magic so I thought I would try it out.

I had coconut oil in the cupboard so I got it out and spooned some in my hand and started applying it all over my hair.

I massaged it in and put it in a pony tail.

Then, I let it sit for about 30 min. and did the dishes while I waited.  I’m always multi-tasking.

After that, I took a shower and washed and conditioned it twice.

I could tell instantly that my hair was smoother.  I dried and styled my hair as usual and notice my hair was extremely soft, my scalp was not dry and my hair was shiny.

super soft hair

I’m actually really pleased with how it turned out and as a result will probably do this every couple of weeks during the winter because my hair feels so good!

Have you ever tried something like this?

Did you use coconut oil?

How did you like it?

How I Clean Natural for Pennies

Owning a house cleaning business taught me a few things.  One of those was the less I paid for my supplies, the more profit I received!  That was definitely a motivator for me as well as getting the job done well AND efficiently.

Remember my story on why and how I switched to natural cleaning products?  I still cannot believe the harmful stuff I was using and exposing myself too!

This is a picture of my old cleaning bucket.  Any of it look familiar?  You most likely have these in your home too.  I thought I needed ALL these for the many jobs that come from keeping a house clean.

toxic cleaners

I went from this full bucket to just 3 products to clean everything…..bathroom, kitchen, dusting, floors, disinfecting, everything!

shaklee 3 products

Because each one is a concentrate, it lasts a looooong time.

Here is an example of how I clean natural for pennies with just the Basic H.

Can you believe those numbers???

I used to think the Dollar Store was such a bargain too, but when you break down the cost,

look at how you can clean for pennies!

You can order yours here and start saving a ton of money too.

Bulletin Board Restyle

So I have this bulletin board.  Yep. It is reaaaallly lacking in personality.  I wasn’t even sure what it’s purpose was.  In this picture it’s current function was to hold my magnets and thumbtacks.  It hangs by my refrigerator in our 5th wheel and one day I decided to give it a simple, inexpensive makeover.

IMG_0552[1]

I LOVE the color green so I purchased one piece of scrapbook paper at the store for 50c.  I already had the thumb tacks and I used 2 sheets of copy paper.  Since it is right next to the refrigerator, it was the perfect spot for the menu.  I already had the laminated day of the week menu plan so I put it here.  I am in LOVE with labeling too!  lol  So seeing the word MENU in big white letters makes me smile.

bulletin board restyle

Here is a close up of the Menu side.

IMG_0559[1]

And the other side. I keep pens and paper here so it’s easy to find. The round tin is magnetic and holds our quarters.  Gotta have those for laundry when you live on the road!

IMG_0560[1]

I love the look of it!  It feels organized and nice to look at.

IMG_0557[1]

What do you think?  Have you restyled a bulletin board? Do big letters make you smile too?

Clean Green: FREE Webinar hosted by a professional house cleaner

I LOVE the feel of a clean home!  Don’t you?  But have you ever thought maybe after ‘cleaning’ you actually made your house ‘dirtier’?  Say, what?!

Think of it this way.  You wouldn’t let your kids play with toxic chemicals, so why would you let your baby crawl over a floor that’s just been wiped with them?  Hmmmm….ever think of it that way?

Window Shopping Fun!

Happy Monday!  Do you ever go window shopping for fun?  I love to go and check out the new styles and sometime WILD styles. Here are some pictures from my latest window shopping trip to Nordstrom.  Enjoy!

Fall is here in the department stores!

IMG_0269

Little known fact: I worked at Nordstrom from the time I was 15 – 24.  I started in the teen dept. putting away clothes (boring!) and moved up to sales in jewelry during college.  I worked mostly seasonally and when I was home from college.  It was a great job for making some quick money for a few weeks. Then I worked a few sales in lingerie when we moved to Oregon until I had my first baby. Working there definitely taught me about great customer service!  I get annoyed when I don’t get it at other stores.

Then I moved on to the shoes!  I love these, but I have trouble in heels.  lol

I have Toms in black and I love them!  They are actually comfortable.  But for my next pair I want something more fun.  I am thinking the pink!

More sparkles…but I think I will stick with the flats.

And of course, I hit the coffee bar.
