How To Earn Money From Home {My Story}

There are many different ways to earn money from home, but I am going to share with you the way I know how and what works for me.

I have been blogging for {almost} 2 years now.  This seems crazy for a girl who didn’t even know what a blog was!

Since then I have l been able to generate an income while working part time at home through blogging and social media marketing.

how to earn money from home

Prior to blogging, though, my life was completely different.

My husband and I were burned out in our jobs.

We were in debt.

I had been through a cancer nightmare and felt physically broken down.

I was tired and depressed.

Life was changing for me as a mom as my boys were getting older.

Life just felt hard.

Have you ever felt that way?

Maybe you do right now.

319752_594320530584074_1815386479_n

But 2 years ago that changed.

At that time I worked outside the home part-time through my house cleaning business.  However, after realizing the cleaning products were making me physically ill [read that story here], I started researching natural cleaning products on the internet.  It was then that I was introduced to the blogging world and found Bonnie Donahue’s blog.

Bonnie uses natural cleaning products by Shaklee and has a TON of blog posts with pictures and uses of those products.

I devoured her blog.

I think I read almost every post in one sitting.

She was living a healthy and natural lifestyle.  She was earning an income while being home with her kids.  She was helping others.

I wanted that.

So I emailed her.  I went with my gut.  I NEEDED those products! I felt nervous.  I mean, really, who contacts a stranger and says ‘I want what you have’?  lol

You know what?  She emailed me back.  Now, we are good friends and have even taken trips together and my family and I stayed at her house last year.  I just love what the blogging community can offer and turn into.

Since that one decision 2 years ago, my life has changed to say the least!

{ email me at claireshealthyhome@gmail.com to see if this fits you too! }

My headaches went away.

I have more energy.

I have a renewed sense of direction and purpose as a person not just a mama.

We have paid off $15K of credit card debt.

I am able to stay at home with my kids which is my desire and dream.

I found something I am passionate about and LOVE helping other families.

I actually earn an income from blogging and social media marketing.

I got off all my allergy medications.

I have been given a clean bill of health from my oncologist and I credit a large part of that from natural health measures.

My kids are healthy and we all rarely get sick.

I have met many like-minded women all over the country.

My husband took a much needed sabatical from his job and we toured the US for 6 months in our 5th wheel with our 3 boys.

Because I took that step to reach out and find out if what Bonnie had was for me, life is not the same.

1409

I joined Project Dream International marketing team (before we even existed!) and brand partnered with Shaklee and have not regretted the decision to email Bonnie at all.

Maybe you are in a similar situation and are just tired of being tired.  Maybe you are in debt like we are.  Maybe you are ready to help your family (and yourself) get healthier.  Maybe you want to be at home with your kids.  Maybe you just want some fun money.  Maybe you have a crazy dream like we did to travel. Whatever it is for you, let’s talk.

Maybe that one email will change your life like it did mine.

Let’s talk.

Go here and fill out my contact form so we can chat and see if we are a good fit.

A Mother’s Balance: Still Learning

Yesterday was Mother’s Day and I told my boys the only thing I wanted from them was a BIG, genuine hug!  Two of them are teenagers and the many, random hugs of their younger days are too few for this mama.  They graced me with my my request and it was the perfect gift.  I told each of them that I LOVE being not only a mom, but THEIR mom and I am so proud of that role.  I have had many talks recently with my 16 year old asking for grace as I figure out how to ‘mother’ him and let him grow up at the same time.  It is HARD!

IMG_0339[1]

IMG_0332[1]

I found myself reflecting (once again) how hard it is to juggle being a work from home mom and being present for my family when needed.  The reason I work from home is so I can be at home with my kids, but sometimes the lines get blurred.  Does that make sense?  This poem says it all for me…

“My hands were busy through the day.
I didn’t have much time to play
The little games you asked me to,
I didn’t have much time for you.

I’d wash your clothes.
I’d sew and cook,
But when you’d bring your picture book
And asked me please to share your fun,
I’d say, “A little later son.”

I’d tuck you in all safe at night
And hear your prayers,
turn out the light,
Then tiptoe softly to the door…
I wish I had stayed a minute more.

For life is short, the years rush past.
A little boy grows up so fast.
No longer is he at your side,
His precious secrets to confide.

The picture books are put away,
There are no longer games to play.
No good-night kisses, no prayers to hear,
That all belongs to yesteryear.

My hands once busy now are still
The days are long and hard to fill.
I wish I could go back and do
The little things you asked me to.”

Author Unknown

WOW!?  That totally helps me remember perspective in the juggling act. I am living the ‘no longer is he at your side’ moment with my boys.  They are older and now it is me that must go to them.  I must be ready to ‘catch’ them when they are ready to talk.  Believe me…it’s tricky with teen boys! I don’t want to be so caught up that I miss those moments with them.  I want to be available.

My greatest joy is being a wife and mom.  Is it yours too?  Do you feel it’s hard to ‘juggle it all’ too?

Healthy Living Steps for Moms on the GO

…….this is a popular post from last year….Happy New Year!…….

Are you a busy mom on the GO?  Do you desire a more healthy lifestyle for you and your family?  Do you struggle with action and committing?  Or are you confused about where to start?  You are NOT alone!  Most people want to get healthy, feel better, have more energy and look younger yet they feel they are too busy to make it happen.  Then discouragement sets in.  I know because I struggle with this all too!

Prior to making some important changes in my life and family, I was a burned out mom.  I was feeling sick, depressed, tired all the time and had very little energy.  My role in life was changing from mommy to mom, my husband had a stressful job, we had gotten ourselves into some debt and my passion for life had seemed to just be gone.  It was time for some serious CHANGE, but even the thought of that overwhelmed me. I thought I needed a major overhaul (and I did!) but I thought I had to do it ALL at once.  That thought crippled me until I decided to change that thought.  Who says I have to do it all?  I think it was just me telling myself that.  Is this you too?  It is freeing to get rid of that crippling thought and I must remind myself of this often.

If you are FED UP with this reality, then I invite you to get serious and find some new habits that will serve you and your family better.  Take it ONE STEP at a time.

Healthy living shouldn’t feel hard…..it should feel GOOD!

Super Soft, Shiny + Healthy Hair

Do you have dry hair or scalp?

Try this to get super soft, shiny + healthy hair.

I was noticing that mine was getting dry this winter and I needed to do something about it.

I didn’t have the time or want to spend the money to go to the salon and get a treatment so I made my own and it turned out amazing!

I heard of coconut oil working like magic so I thought I would try it out.

I had coconut oil in the cupboard so I got it out and spooned some in my hand and started applying it all over my hair.

I massaged it in and put it in a pony tail.

Then, I let it sit for about 30 min. and did the dishes while I waited.  I’m always multi-tasking.

After that, I took a shower and washed and conditioned it twice.

I could tell instantly that my hair was smoother.  I dried and styled my hair as usual and notice my hair was extremely soft, my scalp was not dry and my hair was shiny.

super soft hair

I’m actually really pleased with how it turned out and as a result will probably do this every couple of weeks during the winter because my hair feels so good!

Have you ever tried something like this?

Did you use coconut oil?

How did you like it?

Business Trip to Long Beach, CA

Hi everyone!  I just got back from an energizing and encouraging business trip.

As you may know, I am a Shaklee Director.  I market health and wellness products through my blog.

I have the privilege of working with other moms who are passionate about their families and their health.

I was able to finally meet these girls on my Shaklee and blogging team.

I am on the left. Then it’s Katie, Connie and Erin. Aren’t they beautiful?

100_4526

This is Erin’s son, Kameron.  He started a dog walking business to earn the money to come to the conference!

Amazing young man.  The business coach brought him on stage to share his story.  He is only 9 years old?!

100_4556

I learned so much from each one and gleaned many tips on being a work at home mom.

Here are a few things I learned from the 3 day conference.

*  Personality styles.  So huge with relationships: family, friendships and business.

* “ You attract who you are.  Birds of a feather flock together.  As a man thinks, so is he.”

* “Forgiveness is a lifestyle.”

*  Communication skills.

*  “Repetition is the mother skill.”

*  The masses are always wrong. Don’t follow them.

*  “Prosper where you are planted.”

*   Create a duplicatable system.

*  Leadership development is up to the individual.

*  Learn to improvise an imperfection.

*  Practice following before you can lead.

So many great tips!  I was so pumped and encouraged from this event.

Have you been to an event that you left so encouraged by?

What did you learn?

Thanks for visiting!

Friday Fitness Guest Post: Healthy vs. Skinny

{guest post by Rachelle from Livin’ The Fit Life’}

My stomach started feeling a little funny yesterday and I thought I may have been

coming down with the flu. I took it easy, went to bed early, and this morning,

I didn’t feel 100%, but felt more like I might have a little cold.

I figured, I better get my workout in just in case I do get sick and am not able to

work out for a couple of days. To tell you the truth, I was so pumped to go to the gym.

I hadn’t done Bodypump in a week and I was so excited to get back to it.

Don’t you love to get excited about working out!  What a rush!

Before class a woman asked me about my “12 in 2012” shirt and we chatted about running and what not.

She told me that a couple of her family members were stick thin but not in a healthy way and

she was always the biggest one (not big at all, really cute figure).  We talked about being

proud of our healthy bodies vs. the pull to be skinny.

Sometimes it’s hard to walk the line.

It is always so inspiring for me to go to the gym and see so many healthy women of all shapes and sizes.

I love to read all of the blogs that are about being strong and healthy instead of skinny.

I am proud of my body and I wouldn’t want to trade with anyone.  I work hard with what God gave me!

Thank you to all of you out there that work hard to be good examples of health.

Look at yourself and tell yourself, “I am woman hear me roar”!  Be proud of your strength and your drive.

Leave a comment on what makes you feel strong then let out a roar!

Have a great weekend and Happy Running!

Thanks,

Rachelle

5 Tips to Increase Joy

5 Tips to Increase Joy

Joy is defined by the dictionary as ‘the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying.’

During my year of sickness, I gleaned 5 tips from a friend of mine.

She taught me and encouraged me to find a way to see light in a very dark time.

Doing these steps did not always result in a warm, fuzzy feeling, BUT it did help foster a deeper joy.

The knowledge that life will be ok even if it doesn’t seem it will be.

1.  Nurture an eternal perspective.

Regardless of your spiritual beliefs, a life lived without hope of a future is pretty bleak.

Start by figuring out what your eternal perspective is and then nurture it.

Personally I do this by reading the Bible and praying.  It gives me peace and joy to hope in a life Designed by God.

2.  Laugh everyday.

Yep.  Simple, but true.  This will increase joy and has also been proven to have positive health benefits.

My family and I like to watch funny movies, tell jokes and will quite often watch America’s Funniest Videos (tv show) together.

3.  Look forward to something every week.

Schedule fun stuff!  It doesn’t always have to cost money either.

It could be a movie, dinner with your spouse, coffee with a friend and even your favorite tv show.

4.  Develop a hobby

What are your interests?  Scrapbooking, crafting, baking, sewing, organizing, writing, etc…

The point is, take the time for you to actually do this.  Something for you.

5.  Take care of your physical body.

We are all aware of the health benefits of this for our bodies, but there are also known mood lifter benefits.

Exercising releases the ‘happy’ endorphins, drinking water and eating good foods increase energy and aid in sleeping better.

Pick just one area to improve and focus on.  Your emotional health will thank you.

————————————————————————————————-

~ I hope you find some joy in your life too, regardless of your circumstances.

~ If you are going through a particularly hard time right now, leave a comment or email me.

I would be honored to pray for you!

Looking forward to our next visit,

Claire

My Mexico Trip

Hi everyone!  So sorry I have been MIA lately.  I just got back from a fabulous 5 days completely unplugged in Puerta Vallarta, MX!

My friend and I have been planning a girls’ trip to celebrate our 40th birthdays.

Although I like to remind her that my ‘official’ day is not until June 30th.  LOL  It really was dreamy.  Everything we hoped for and more.

This was the first time I have taken this long of a trip without my boys or my husband.  Isn’t my hubby great?

He told me to go and have a good time.  He works really hard at his job, took an evening class, took care of the boys

and finished putting in his mom’s wood floor…all while I was gone!  He is amazing!

Here are some pictures and highlights of our trip that I wanted to share with you.

**warning:  lots of pictures.  Too many cute ones to narrow it down**

This is the hotel we stayed in.

100_4376

Here is a view of the pools.  We spent a lot of time here enjoying the SUN!  Living in Oregon, we were really lacking our Vitamin D.

There was a swim up pool bar that was fun, too.

100_4314

This is our room.  It was simple and modern with a fabulous bed!  Usually I do not like hotel beds, but this one was great.

100_4326

This was our ocean view patio.  We did not know we were getting this, but sooo glad we had it!  We used it every morning.

100_4316

I took this picture from our patio one morning.  Our hotel is right by the Marina where the cruise ships come in.

We have been on 2 Mexican cruises together with our hubbys and two other couples and came into this Marina.

It was fun to see the view in a different way.

100_4334

Here we are!  I am on the right.  Doesn’t my friend look great?!

She recently lost 23 pounds with the Cinch Body Transformation Plan!  She feels so good.

I have lost 15.  I still have 20 to go.  I was really happy that I fit into my summer clothes better than last summer.

Cinch Transformation (Shae & Me)

One day we took the bus and went shopping along the boardwalk at the flea markets and had lunch at this great restaurant.

It was covered in signatures from all of their customers.  We got to sign our names too.  So fun!

We ordered their special 2 for 1 margaritas and they brought us EACH 2!  LOL

We were cracking up because if you know us we do not drink very often at all so 2 was just hilarious for us.

BUT it was really good. Winking smile

This is me with my mango margaritas.

100_4321

100_4323

I did not really buy much at all because I was spending most of it at the spa.

But I loved these scarfs, got some candy for the kids and just as we were about to catch our bus back to the hotel,

we saw an awesome shoe shop.  Seriously, it was shoe heaven!  Tons of cute sandals!  We spent over an hour there looking and trying on.

The girls that worked there were annoyed with us because they had to go upstairs to get the sizes.  They were obviously not on commission.

Anyway, I ended up getting these 2 pairs for under $40.  I love them!  They are so comfortable and cute.  My friend got 4 pairs.

Needless to say, when we purchased 6 pairs the girls became more friendly.

100_4331

This is a picture of a spa we found less than a block from our hotel.  Our big splurge and dream for this girls’ trip was to go to the spa.

We love massages and they are a real treat for us.  Anyway, we were planning on getting one at our resort,

but when we stumbled on this we were squealing with excitement.  The place was clean and professional.

They spoke some english (my friend also speaks spanish very well).  The best part was their prices were less that half of the resort prices!  Score!

So of course we went twice.  The first time we got an hour and a half massage.  The girls were extremely professional and very good.

I think it was the best massage I have had.  Then we went back 2 nights later and got another one plus a facial.  We were there over 3 hours.

It was our first facial and I can not believe I waited this long to have one?  My skin still feels amazing and we slept awesome that night.

100_4324

Here we are with our ‘girls’ after our 3 hours of heaven.  We requested them for our second night.

It was fun to get to know them, too.

100_4377

Fish Tacos here every night.  Cheap and good.  YUM!

100_4379

Parasailing off the beach.  I was scared at first, but it was amazing!  Really peaceful and easy.

Just sit when they tell you and float down when it’s over and they catch you.  A really great experience.

Here is my friend at take off…

100_4343

In the air!

100_4347

That’s me in the air.

100_4336

That’s me landing.  Super easy!  It was such a thrilling experience!

100_4340

On our way home…{sigh}.

100_4384

and…YES we brought only 1 carry on bag :0 Stay tuned for a post on my packing tips.

So did I loose you yet with all the pictures?  It was a really relaxing break for me.

Unplugged for the entire 5 days.  Read 2 books.  Spa, Sleep & Sun.

I got to thinking how much better I feel coming home to take care of my family.  I feel more ‘present’.

Why do we moms have such a hard time taking breaks for ourselves?

We seem to put ourselves last and really, that ends up not so good for our families.

Thank you for letting me share my special trip with you!

Looking forward to our next visit,

Claire
